Since FAD was started in 2003 we have been increasingly involved in starting new schools, supporting existing local schools, and in supporting individual children to their local schools.

At present (April 2011) we have 8 schools that we sponsor 100% serving 546 children, we have 2 schools that we part support giving about 60 children free education, with a further 30 children being sponsored to their own local school.

Please click on the links to the left to read the stories so far of all our schools.

Family Aid Direct is based out of Bethesda Chapel Royton that has a small congregation of very generous people (none in the congregation could be said to be wealthy).   In the early years we sponsored many with pigs or goats or chickens, but as the schools have grown our finances have had to be pulled back in these areas, though no door is ever closed completely.

In 2008 we had a small drilling rig imported from America to the Orissa area and from time to time we drill a new tube well.

We also respond as well as we are able when we hear of any with medical needs.

One reason for revamping this web site is to appeal to any who read to help us with the costs for running our school.   The costs per child are £3.00 per month with approx a further £3.00 for the years books and £3.00 for the uniform.   The costs for the schools at Kyndong wahlang, Rangamatia, Bhubaneshwar and Bhalubasa are all covered by individuals but we have shortfalls for the other 4 schools.

As you look at the photos you will see how 'accountable' the charity is.   Every penny donated goes to its nominated project.   All overheads are paid for by the charity trustees.

It is so light a burden to get involved and so great a difference if you do.
