Kumchia School 2009
Here are the children on their first day of school. There are just over 20 children on the register.
The children suffer from malnutrition and so they receive a free lunchtime snack every day.
Sabita Sing and Laxmidhar Sing are our teachers.
Here is one of the first lessons. The school is using the community hall kindly provide by the villagers.

Football - a favourite with the boys
Fir Bank School in Royton have raised £257 for Kumchia School by taking part in a sponsored football event.

Parents attend the school sports day. The children are awarded prizes.

to school.

This is Pooja. Her parents are illiterate. There is no other school nearby so Pooja is happy to have been given the opportunity to be educated. She says that her teachers are kind and caring and she is hoping to get a job in the future and educate her family.
Meet Chanchala. She is blessed to be getting free education, books, uniform and mid day meal.
In her spare time she enjoys skipping, dancing, games and helping her mother.
