SCHOOLS & EDUCATION

This was the area of Suzanne’s main concern when the charity was first started in 2003. Consequently we have progressively become quite involved, paying for children to attend existing local schools and starting completely new schools. We have started, and now fully support, 8 schools (Jan 2009) in the states of Meghalaya and Orissa.

Sponsoring a child’s education is a long-term project and needs a little more commitment than the Personal Projects. £3.00 per month is the cost of sponsoring a child in one of our schools or to a school near to where they live. Charities love regular givers.

You will see from the Home Page that we are starting to twin our schools in India with schools here in the UK and we eventually hope that the UK school will take over looking after the school from us.

We always work closely with local village leaders and parents. In time we hope to co-ordinate our Personal Projects with the poorer families so that they will be able to pay their children’s school fees and the school will achieve its financial independence.
